Manually Controlling the Biomek NX
in Biomek Software
Overview
Manual Control and Advanced Manual Control are used to control:
Movement of the pod.
Gripper independently of a method.
Pod when teaching the deck, framing the grippers, and recovering from errors.
Tip Loader and other ALPs independently of a method
NOTE Refer to the Automated Labware Positioners (ALPs) Instructions For Use (987836) for information on
manually controlling specific ALPs.

Accessing Manual Control
To open Manual Control, choose Instrument > Manual Control. An Information dialog (Figure 4.1)
appears briefly as the connection is made with the Biomek NX instrument, immediately followed
by
Manual Control (Figure 4.2).
NOTE Manual Control is available only when a method is not being executed. If a need for manual control
is realized during a method run, stop the method using the Stop button or Snap Continuation button
(refer to the Biomek Software Version 4.1 User’s Manual (PN B30026) or the Biomek Software Version
4.2 User’s Manual (PN C40390), Snapping a Continuation).
