VOLCANIC ASH
Condition: Static discharge around the windshield, bright glow in
the engine inlets, smoke or dust on the flight deck or
an acrid odor indicates the airplane is in volcanic ash.
Exit volcanic ash as quickly as possible. Consider a 180
degree turn.

Note: Encountering volcanic ash can lead to abnormal
systems reactions such as:
• Engine malfunctions, increasing EGT, engine stall
or flameout.
• Decrease or loss of airspeed indications.
• Equipment cooling OFF light.
