8. The red cap has a hole on one side of the hinge for the left pivot pin, and a slot on the
other side of the hinge for the right pivot pin. Rotate the cap 10 degrees,
counterclockwise, and slide to the right over the button, so the left pivot pin goes into
the hole of the hinge. Then push the right side of the cap down until the right pivot pin
snaps into the slot of the hinge. This requires some force.
9. After the cap has snapped into place, the hinge has two stable positions and the cap can
be flipped into the open or closed position.
