3.8 Still Connections
B Series degreasers may be used in conjunction with a solvent recovery still to increase the clean-
up rate in the ultrasonic sump, provide additional solvent for spraying or to keep the boiling sump
clean.
3.8.1 Gravity Feed Connections
Locate the still on the same level as and no more than 10 feet from the degreaser.
Connect the degreaser boiling sump drain to the still inlet. Locate a tee as shown in Figure 3-
3 to permit draining the degreaser boiling sump and connecting plumbing.
If the degreaser is not equipped with spray, connect the still water separator solvent outlet to
the degreaser ultrasonic sump drain fitting as shown in Figure 3-3. The plumbing should slope
towards the degreaser without any low points that could trap solvent and prevent free distillate
flow.
If the degreaser is equipped with spray, connect the still water separator outlet to the
degreaser spray reservoir inlet as shown in Figure 3-4. This allows the still’s distillate to be
used for spraying.
3.8.2 Transfer Pump Connections
The transfer pump cannot be used with the B452 because the amount of solvent transferred
during each cycle would cause excessive level fluctuations in the degreaser.
Locate the still on the same level as and no more than 10 feet from the degreaser.
Connect the degreaser boiling sump drain to the still pump inlet. Locate a tee as shown in
Figure 3-3 to permit draining the degreaser boiling sump and connecting plumbing.
If the degreaser is not equipped with spray, connect the still water separator solvent outlet to
the degreaser ultrasonic sump drain fitting as shown in Figure 3-3. The plumbing should slope
towards the degreaser without any low points that could trap solvent and prevent free distillate
flow.
If the degreaser is equipped with spray, connect the still water separator outlet to the
degreaser spray reservoir inlet as shown in Figure 3-4. This allows the still’s distillate to be
used for spraying.
