5.12 Troubleshooting
5.12.1 Sub-zero Refrigeration
Ice buildup on refrigeration valves and tubes. Frosting and ice buildup is normal in humid
environments. Ice on the sub-zero refrigeration coils should melt during the defrost cycle.
Insulation may be added to areas where ice buildup is excessive.
Incomplete defrost. Incomplete defrost may be caused by short defrost duration or by
excessive interval between defrost cycles. Adjust the defrost controller in accordance with
Section 5.10.
Inadequate cooling. Check that hot exhaust air is not being recirculated to the refrigeration
inlet. Check the refrigeration heat exchanger for clogged or bent fins. Check that the fan
operates.
All other refrigeration problems must be investigated by an authorized refrigeration repair
specialist.
5.12.2 Primary Refrigeration System
Inadequate cooling, Check that hot exhaust air is not being recirculated to the refrigeration
inlet. Check the refrigeration heat exchanger for clogged or bent fins. Check that the fan
operates.
All other refrigeration problems must be investigated by an authorized refrigeration repair
specialist.
5.12.3 B/S LEV FAULT Indicator Lights
The low liquid level safety switch in the Boiling Sump has sensed low solvent level. Add
solvent.
5.12.4 CONTAMINATION WARNING Indicator Lights
The boil sump temperature has risen to 104% of the clean solvent boiling temperature. The
contamination in the boil sump is nearing the boil sump fault level where the heat will be shut
off. Schedule a boil down and solvent replacement at the next convenient time.
5.12.5 B/S TEMP FAULT Indicator Lights
The boil sump temperature has risen to 106% of the clean solvent boiling temperature. This is
generally the result of excessive contamination. Drain the boil sump and refill with clean
solvent. The ultrasonic sump and water separator generally do not need to be drained.
