5.3.3 Status Byte
The Status_Byte? query is used to return the current setting of the Status Byte.
The Status Byte contains information regarding Measurement_Status,
Operation_Complete, Device_Status and abnormal conditions (device errors or in-
terface errors).
If both the Measurement_Status Event and Event Enable Registers have bits set at
the same bit locations, then a bit in the Status Byte will be set at bit position 1.
If both the Operation_Complete Event Enable and Event Registers have bits set at
the same bit locations, then a bit in the Status Byte will be set at bit position 2.
If the Device_Status bit (3) has been set the amplifier is in measurement mode. If
the bit is not set, the amplifier is in set-up mode.
If the Abnormal Status bit (7) has been set, an abnormal condition has been caused
by a device error or an interface error (see Chapter 8).
The contents of the Status Byte appear as shown in Table 5.5.
Note: Using the IEEE–488 interface, the content of the Status Byte may be read
using the Serial Poll function of the connected computer or controller.
