RM238 series supports below backplanes:
 8 x 3.5” Mini-SAS HD passive backplane
 12 x 3.5” Mini-SAS HD passive backplane
 12 x 3.5” Mini-SAS HD active backplane
 2 x 2.5’’ SATA/SAS passive backplane
 2 x 2.5’’ NVMe passive backplane
 8 x 2.5” Mini-SAS HD passive backplane
 16 x 2.5” Mini-SAS HD passive backplane with docked expander board
 8 x 2.5” Mini-SAS HD passive backplane with 4 x tri-mode (SATA/SAS/NVMe) ports
 8 x 2.5” NVMe passive backplane
All available SATA/SAS backplanes include the following common features:
 12Gbps SAS and 6Gbps SATA
 29-pin SFF-8680 12Gbps rated drive interface connectors, providing both power and I/O signals to attached devices
 Hot swap support for SATA/SAS devices
 I2C interface from a 4-pin connector for device status communication to the BMC over SMBus
 LEDs to indicate drive activity and status for each attached device
