Troubleshooting
WARNING
Read the REPAIR chapter and make
sure that the power is disconnected
before doing any repairs.
ISSUE POSSIBLE CAUSE SOLUTION
Leading Edge of Flatwork Mis-
aligned
1. Mechanical problem with
the spread clamp or its air
cylinder.
Check/adjust. Refer to the REPAIR
chapter, Spread Section section,
Spreader Clamp
Mechanical Ad-
justment procedure.
2. Corner sizes are not even.
Check the corner sensors. Refer to
the REPAIR chapter, Sensors sec-
tion, Corner Photosensor Align-
ment procedure.
3. Air bars out of alignment.
Adjust. Refer to the REPAIR chap-
ter, Compressed Air System sec-
tion, Air Bar Alignment procedure.
4. Gaps between lower
spreader belts are not even
left side to right side, caus
-
ingatwork to pull to one
side.
Adjust. Refer to the REPAIR chap-
ter, Spreader Section section,
Lower Spreader Belt Gap Adjust-
ment procedure.
Excessive Gap Between
Flatwork Pieces
1. GAP settings need adjust
-
ment.
Adjust. Refer to the CHI PANEL
OPERATION bulletin, Adjustment
section, Program Adjustments
(CHI) procedure.
2. Tail sensors may be dirty,
misaligned, or defective.
Clean/adjust/replace as necessary.

section.
Machine Stops
Message reads:
TAIL SENSOR COVERED/
SHUT DOWN BEFORE CLEAR-
ING
1. Tail sensor PE13 or PE27
is covered too long.
Check and clear any obstruction.
Clean photosensors if necessary.
Ribbons Do Not Track Straight
1. Ribbons are worn or clipper
lacing broken.
Replace the associated pair of rib-
bons or the entire set. Refer to the
REPAIR chapter, Discharge Sec-
tion section, Discharge Conveyor
Ribbon Replacement procedure.
2. Check for string, lint, or
debris build up on the unit.
Locate and remove any debris. The
unit must be kept clean to operate
correctly.
3. Check the tension of the
ribbons.
Adjust ribbon tension. Refer to
the REPAIR chapter, Discharge
Section section, Discharge Con
-
veyor Ribbon Tension Adjustment
procedure.
Discharge Conveyor Lift Switch
Not Working
1. Switch is defective. Replace the switch.
