PHOTOSENSORS
Sensor Name Function Type & Setting
Control Board
Red LED (Sensor
NOT triggered)
PE1 Inlet Conveyor Sequences incoming items. If
an item is placed on the inlet
conveyor before the previous item is
grabbed by the transfer clamps, the
photosensor is tripped and the inlet
conveyor lifts to stall the incoming
item.
Diffused Dark Operate
ON
PE2A, B, C Left Corner Sensor Detect the trailing edge of the
flatwork entering the clutch roll.
Three sensors located at either side
of the inlet conveyor are activated
when the beam is interrupted by
flatwork. The clutch stops when
the flatwork has cleared the area
covered by the three sensors on
that side.

PE4A, B, C, D Left Roller Sensors Detect when the area at the
intersection of the clutch-brake roll
is clear of material and activates its
respective transfer clamp.

PE13 Tail Sensor Detects the trailing edge of an
item as it travels up the discharge
conveyor. This sensor controls the
sequencing of the spreading and
laydown for the next item.

PE14 Taut Sensor Detects when the flatwork is close to
being completely spread and slows
the spread speed.
Diffused Dark Operate
ON
PE15, 16 Lower Left & Right Wall
Sensors
Detect and prevent material from
entering and getting jammed in
the lower spreader belt pulleys.
When either sensor is tripped, the
spreader reverses direction, and
returns the flatwork to the center of
the unit where it will be dropped.

PE26 Crossbeam Sensor Safety precaution. When the beam
is interrupted, the unit shuts down.

PROXIMITY SENSORS
PX6 Transfer Forward
(located at the end of the
transfer cylinder)
Detects when the transfer cylinder
is all he way forward, allowing the
flatwork to be transferred from the
clutch rolls to the transfer clamps.
12 mm
OFF
PX9 Upper Spreader Encoder Tracks the position of the spreading
clamps during the spread and return
functions.
8 mm
OFF
PX12 Home
(center of upper
spreader)
Detects the position of the upper
spreader clamps in the transfer
position at the center of the unit.
This sensor initiates the transfer
from the transfer clamps to the
spreader clamps and resets the
upper spreader position to HOME
(zero).
12 mm
OFF
PX24, 25 Inlet Capacitive Switch Safety precaution. Redundant mass
proximity sensors positioned at
the base of the inlet conveyor. If a
persons’ hand is sensed, the inlet
conveyor raises and all moving parts
of the unit stop.
