Chapter 12 Field-Replaceable Unit Guide
Replacing a Codec Unit—Part Number CTS-CODEC-PRI-G2= (Primary Codec) or CTS-CODEC-SEC= (Secondary
Step 2 From the back of the Cisco TelePresence 3200, access the codec to be removed. Turn the power switch
on the codec to the Off position.
Step 3 Remove all cable ties holding the cables to the cable management bar. Take note of the organization of
the cables.
Step 4 Remove the cables from the codec. Label each cable with masking tape for identification as it is
removed.

Step 5 Remove and retain the screws that attach the codec’s L-brackets to the Display structure Front feet.

Step 6 Remove the codec from the Display structure.
Step 7 Remove the L brackets from the codec.

Step 8 Remove the cable management bar from the codec. Retain the bar and the screws.

Step 9 Make a note of the MAC address of the new primary codec. The MAC address should be printed on a
sticker on the codec. You configure Cisco Unified Communications Manager to use the new MAC
address in the “Powering On the System” section on page 12-4.
Step 10 Attach the L-brackets and Cable management bar to the replacement codec.

Step 11 Attach the new codec to the display structure front feet using the screws that you removed in Step 5.
Step 12 Turn the codec power switch to the On position.
Caution Make sure each PDU power switch is still in the Off position.
Step 13 Reattach the cables according to your temporary masking tape identification.

Step 14 Attach the cables to the cable management bar using tie wraps.
Step 15 If the replacement unit was the Primary codec, follow these steps to reset the MAC address in
Cisco Unified Communications Manager:
a. Open a browser on a computer connected to the network.
b. Access the Cisco Unified Communications Manager interface.
c. Change the MAC address for the Primary codec to its new address.
