Dynamic Routing Protocol
Configuration for T1000/Unison
The procedures in this chapter describe how to configure the data plane of the T1000 Traffic
Director for dynamic routing protocols, such as OSPF. These configurations are specific to
Unison deployments (not T3100).
This chapter has the following sections:
Overview
OSPF Protocol and Setup
OSPF Configuration
Overview
The T1000 supports both dynamic and static routing. The objective of dynamic protocols is
to enable route health injection so that an upstream router can choose the best among
multiple routes to a topographically distributed server. This ensures reliable operation in the
result of a link or node failure, and allows for reconfiguration of a live network without
service interruption.
T1000 supports the following protocols:
RIP v.2
OSPF v.2
BGP
RIPng for IPv6
OSPF v.3 for IPv6
This chapter provides configuration instructions for OSPF v2 only. Support for additional
protocols will be added in future revisions.
OSPF Protocol and Setup
Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) is a router protocol used within larger autonomous system
networks. Using OSPF, a host that obtains a change to a routing table or detects a change in
the network immediately multicasts the information to all other hosts in the network so that
