Administration
The procedures in this chapter describe how to administer a T1000. They include basic steps
for accessing the T1000, and more advanced topics such as user administration and SNMP
configuration.

Using the T1000 Command Line Interface (CLI)
You can access the CLI either locally, by connecting a workstation to the console port, or
remotely, by connecting through secure shell (SSH) from any workstation on the same
network.

Logging on to the CLI by using SSH
The SSH protocol is the preferred remote access method for accessing a T1000 remotely
from any workstation on the same network. You can use either SSH version 1 (SSH1) or
SSH version 2 (SSH2.)
If you do not have a working SSH client, you can download and install an SSH client
program such as PuTTY or SecureCRT.To verify that the SSH client is installed properly,
use it to connect to any device on your network that accepts SSH connections.
