Configuring SNMP
If you do not configure at least one SNMP manager, the T1000 accepts and responds to
SNMP queries from all IP addresses on the network. If you configure one or more SNMP
managers, the appliance accepts and responds only to SNMP queries from those specific IP
addresses.
If you remove an SNMP manager from the T1000 configuration, that manager can no longer
query the T1000.
To add an SNMP manager:
At the T1000 command prompt, type the following commands to set the parameters and
verify the configuration:
add snmp manager IPAddress ... [-netmask netmask] [-domainResolveRetry
integer]
show snmp manager [IPAddress [-netmask netmask]]
For example:
> add snmp manager 10.102.29.10
Done
> show snmp manager
1) 10.102.29.5 255.255.255.255
Done
To add an SNMP manager:
Important: If you specify the SNMP manager’s host name instead of its IP address, you
must configure a DNS name server to resolve the host name to the SNMP
manager’s IP address.
At the T1000 command prompt, type the following commands to set the parameters and
verify the configuration:
add snmp manager IPAddress ... [-netmask netmask] [-domainResolveRetry
integer]
show snmp manager [IPAddress [-netmask netmask]]
For example:
> add nameserver 10.103.128.15
Done
> show nameserver
1)10.103.128.15 - State: UP
Done
> add snmp manager engwiki.eng.company.net –domainResolveRetry 10
Done
> show snmp manager
1) Hostname:abc.com (Unresolved IP)
Resolve Retry: 7
2) Hostname:engwiki.eng.company.net (10.217.3.249)
Resolve Retry: 10
Done
