IP Internet Protocol. The method or protocol by which data is sent from one computer to
another on the Internet.

LED Light Emitting Diode
LNB Low Noise Blockdown Converter. A device used to amplify or boost the weak received
signal without amplifying the noise signals (hence the “low noise” part of LNB) and to
convert the high frequencies of the signal into lower frequencies, a process called down
converting, for conveyance to the indoor equipment (demodulator) for processing.

PAST Person Activated Self Test
POST Power On Self Test. A system test that is activated each time the system is powered on.

RF Radio Frequency. Electromagnetic wave frequencies between about 3 kHz and about 300
GHz including the frequencies used for communications signals (radio, television, cell-
phone and satellite transmissions) or radar signals.

SSID Service Set IDentifier. An SSID is the name of a wireless local area network (WLAN). All
wireless devices on a WLAN must use the same SSID in order to communicate with each
other.
