Restarting the Computer
If you need to restart the computer, use one of these options:
■
Click Start, Shut Down to access software options for shutting
down or restarting the computer.
■
Press
Ctrl+Alt+Delete
to shut down an unresponsive application
and prevent loss of data.

NOTE
: Press
Ctrl+Alt+Delete
 again to restart the computer.
■
Slide the power switch and press suspend at the same time to
reset or restart the computer, if other options fail.
When to Turn Off the Computer or Initiate Suspend
■
If you use the computer frequently, you do not have to turn it
off. Simply initiate Suspend when you’re not using it.
■
If external power is not connected, battery packs continue to
drain while the computer is in Suspend, but at a much slower
rate. If you want to charge the battery packs while you’re not
using the computer, connect to external power. The battery
packs charge whether the computer is on or off, but charge
much faster when the computer is off.
■
If you plan to store the computer for six months or more, turn
off the computer and remove the battery packs. This reduces a
battery pack’s discharge rate and extends its operating life.
■
To prevent total battery discharge, if you aren’t using the
computer for 24 hours or more, turn it off.
