1) The JACK UNIT mounts on top of the UPSTAND POST and the male end of the jacks’
base fits the female socket on the top of the UPSTAND. The UPSTAND fits into the pit
channel by mating the male and female ends. Both the UPSTAND POST and the JACK
UNIT must be attached to the appropriate attachment bracket on the previously already
installed rail brackets. Do not tighten at this time.
DO NOT PUT ANY WEIGHT ON THE JACK ASSEMBLY until BOTH JACK AND UPSTAND
ARE SECURELY FASTENED AT THE INDICATED POINTS.
2) Use PLUMB-LINE and carpenter’s level to ensure that the jack and upstand are “in line”
with each other and vertically plumb. Slight misalignment can cause undue wear on the
seals and an unsatisfactory ride in the cab. NOTE: The jack centerline is 4 3/8" off the
rail/cab centerline.
