8) Remove the two shims in place behind the safety blocks before attempting to run the
platform any distance. This may be difficult, as they may be “tight” in place and some
loosening may be necessary to remove them. Usually, the shims will come out when the
elevator is moved in the UP direction and is then lowered.
9) Ensure proper tensioning to the cables on re-application of weight.
OVERSPEED GOVERNOR (OPTIONAL)
1) Attach the auxilliary governor bracket to the governor mounting bracket using nuts, bolts
and lockwashers supplied. (See Figure # 21).
2) While standing on top of the cab, install the overspeed governor assembly at the top of
the rails. Fasten the bracket to the rails using four (4) rail clips on each side.
3) Lower the elevator to the bottom level.
4) Raise the cab approximately six (6) feet (1829 mm) above the pit floor level so that work
can be performed.
5) Disconnect the power supply to the elevator including the power supply to the battery
back-up system.
MAKE SURE THAT THE MAIN POWER IS
DISCONNECTED TO THE ELEVATOR AND THE
BATTERY BACK-UP SYSTEM.
