9) Repeat the same procedure for the top of the entrance assembly, leaving the strut
fasteners finger tight.
NOTE
The entrance assembly may now be plumbed. This is also a good time to re-check all
measurements with your documentation.
10) Using a level, roughly plumb the struts and tighten the bottom strut fasteners.
11) Using a plumb line and moving to the top, accurately plumb the entrance assembly in
both directions. Once plumb, tighten the top tie angles to the strut fasteners and add a
second bolt to all four.
12) Finally, attach the grout angle (Figure # 27, Item # 9) to the underside of the sill support.
13) The entrance assembly has now been permanently fastened to the building in correct
alignment with the elevator car. The contractor will finish around the frames and sill.
NOTE
It is recommended that the installer be present when the contractor finishes the frames. It is
not uncommon for them to move entrance assemblies for their own purposes which can be
disastrous for alignment and very time consuming to fix. If it is not possible to supervise, spend
some time with the contractor and inform them of the ramifications of not following your
instructions.
Installing the Landing Doors
1) Install the filler channel (Figure # 27, Item # 4) on the underside of the track and secure it
in place.
2) There are two hanger assemblies. Each assembly has two main hanger wheels with
metal upthrust rollers underneath. These upthrust rollers are safety devices which ensure
the door cannot come off the track during operation. They must be removed to set the
hanger assemblies on the track.
3) Before mounting the hanger assemblies, attach the slow door hanger cover (Figure # 31,
Item # 47) onto the larger slow door hanger (Figure # 31, Item # 34).
4) Mount the slow door hanger and then the fast door hanger (Figure # 31, Item # 33). The
fast door hanger is mounted on the hanger track between the two rollers of the slow door
hanger. These assemblies should slide easily from one end of the track to the other.
WITH THE HANGER ASSEMBLIES MOUNTED, YOU
CAN NOW INSTALL THE DOOR PANELS. TAKE CARE
THAT THE HANGER ASSEMBLIES DO NOT COME OFF
DURING THE DOOR ASSEMBLY.
