7) To set the height of the header (Item # 5) from the sill, measure 81" (2057 mm) from the
surface of the aluminum sill to the lowest point of the header. See Figure # 28 or # 29.
8) Square up the frame assembly by measuring from corner to corner on both sides and
compare the measurements. The measurements must be within 1/16" (2 mm).
9) Tighten all the bolts.
10) Bolt the door hanger track (Figure # 31, Item # 32) to the header using the five holes
provided.
NOTE
It is very important that the track is exactly parallel to the header.
11) Flip the frame over to assemble the architraves. The architraves, also known as the jamb
assemblies, consist of a strike jamb (lock side), a pass jamb (opening side) and a head
jamb. See Figure # 27, Item #'s 3, 2 and 1 respectively.
NOTE
This is the point in the assembly when the "hand" of the entrance is determined. Make sure
that the jamb assemblies are installed on the correct hand.
12) Install the two L-shaped jamb brackets (Figure # 27, Item # 13) that support the strike
jamb (Item # 3) and the pass jamb (Item # 2).
13) Keeping in mind the hand of the entrance, attach the jamb brackets to the sill support
(Item # 7) using the single holes provided. Leave the bolts finger tight. The 2 3/8" (60 mm)
studs face up into the door area.
14) Attach the strike and pass jambs to the head jamb and L-shaped jamb brackets.
15) Loosely attach the head jamb (Item # 1) to the header (Item # 5).
16) Using a square, bolt the side jambs to the head jamb. Note, the head jamb must
overhang the side jambs by 1/4" (6 mm)
on the landing side.
17) Measure across the inside of the opening at the top. This measurement should be 36"
(914 mm). See Figure # 28.
18) Tighten the top fasteners on the head jamb to the header.
19) At the bottom, raise the pass jamb until it is flush with the edge of the aluminum sill.
Ensure it is square before tightening the two nuts.
20) Ensure that both jambs are the same distance from the sill, 5 1/2" (140 mm). See Figure
# 28. Check the bottom assembly with a square and adjust as required.
21) Tighten the bolts on the architrave to the L-shaped jamb brackets (Item # 13).
