The retainers are permanently marked with ID numbers. The retainer for the slow door hanger
is marked with a number ending in 77R2 and the two parts of the fast door retainer are
identified with numbers ending in 76R2. The two bottom guide track retainers are marked with
number ending in 92R2. Holes have been provided between the two existing gibs in each door
panel for these retainers. Begin, by installing the bottom retainers.
1) Insert the bottom retainers (Figure # 27, Item # 14) into the track, one for each door
panel, and screw them to the door panel with the fasteners provided.
NOTE
The retainers should not touch the track side at any point. They are provided as a redundant
backup to the main guide gibs and normally carry no load.
2) Mount the safety retainer for the fast door hanger. This is a two-piece part that needs to
be interlocked and mounted on the two studs provided. The assembled retainer straddles
the track.
3) Mount the slow door retainer to the main header using the two holes provided. The angle
portion extends over the track hanger. These retainers are a backup to the main wheels
and upthrust rollers and carry on load.
NOTE
There is a close running clearance between the retainer, its screws and the hanger assembly
as the door opens and closes. Some adjustment of the hanger may be needed if there is any
interference.
Installing the Sight Guard
The purpose of the sight guard is to prevent users from reaching between the car and the
landing door panels. It also prevents people from looking into the area, hence its name.
1) Install the sight guard on the leading edge of the fast door panel. All the holes and
fasteners have been supplied. Attach it using the self-tapping screw provided and align it
to the front door edge.
Installing the Sill Closer
The function of the sill closer is two-fold. Once installed, the doors truly operate as a slow (or
trailing) door and a fast (or leading) door. It also makes the door panels self-closing whenever
the car is not at that landing.
The sill closer is attached in three (3) locations:
• to a mounting plate that is fastened to the leading door panel
• to the back of the slow door and
• to the surface of the aluminum sill.
The sill closer is a "handed" device, so holes in the sill have not been pre-drilled. Please refer
to Figure # 34 indicating where to drill the holes. Concord has also designed a template to
assist in the placement of the holes.
