SiAF332111E Troubleshooting by Error Code
Part 6 Service Diagnosis 255
5.33 Refrigerant Overcharged
Applicable
Models
All outdoor unit models
Error Code F6
Method of Error
Detection
Detect overcharged refrigerant according to the following thermistor temperatures during test
operation.
4/5 HP models
Outdoor air thermistor (R1T)
Heat exchanger deicer thermistor (R4T)
6/8 HP models
Outdoor air thermistor (R1T)
Heat exchanger liquid pipe thermistor (R4T)
Subcooling heat exchanger liquid pipe thermistor (R5T)
10/12 HP models
Outdoor air thermistor (R1T)
Heat exchanger liquid pipe thermistor (R4T)
Heat exchanger deicer thermistor (R7T)
Error Decision
Conditions
When the amount of refrigerant, which is calculated using the thermistor temperatures during
test operation, exceeds the regular charge amount by 30% or more.
(However, even if refrigerant is charged slightly over the regular charge amount, F6 may be
displayed on the remote controller.)
Supposed
Causes
Refrigerant overcharged
Disconnection of any of the above thermistors
Abnormalities in any of the above thermistors
Troubleshooting
CHECK 11 Refer to page 350.
Check for the conditions of
mounting of the thermistors to
the piping.
Disconnect the thermistors
from the outdoor unit main
PCB, and then make
measurement of resistance
using a multimeter.
Normal?
Remedy refrigerant overcharging.
YES
NO
NO
Replace abnormal thermistors,
and then operate the system.
Properly connect the thermistors,
and then operate the system.
YES
Caution
Be sure to turn off the power switch before connecting or disconnecting
connectors, or parts may be damaged.
Are the thermistors
properly mounted?
