CO2-Recovery Plant 51 EN/2020
3. Leaking compressor seal stage 3. Combined with high P1 (and low P2).
4. Any other leakage e.g., pressure relief valves, drain valves or fittings.
High Pressure Stage 1 above 4,5 bars:
1. Inlet Valve Stage 2 leaking and/or Exit Valve Stage 2 leaking. Test by stopping
unit and check if P1 rises quickly. Hereafters depressurize stage 1 and unscrew
union to inlet valve stage 2 and see if leaking (if sever leakage, stage 2 may be
already depressurized). To test the exit valve, unscrew the inlet valve and check
if P2 decreases.
2. Inlet Valve Stage 2 blocked and/or Exit Valve Stage 2 blocked. Any blockage in
stage 1 cooling circuit including condensate separators. Higher Av. Rotation.
Unscrew valve and check. Try blowing air through the cooling circuit.
3. Piston Seal stage 3 leaking, high P1 (test by stopping unit and check if P1 raises
quickly at stand still, P2 to decrease). High average rotation.
4. Ø125 mm Main Piston Seal Stage 1/2 leaking. P2 will be low as well. (Test by
stopping unit and check if P1 raises quickly at stand still if valves OK under 1.).
High average rotation.
Low Pressure Stage 1, below 2,5 bars:
1. Leaking Exit Valve Stage 1.
2. Leaking drain valve or PRV in condensate separator stage 1.
High Pressure Stage 2 cooling loop above 17 bars:
1. Leaking inlet or exit valve stage 3. Av. rotation normal.
Low Pressure Stage 2. (Below 10 bars) and normal average rotation, high pressure
stage 1:
1. Leaking inlet or exit valve stage 2.
Low Pressure Stage 2. and high average rotation:
1. Leaking drain valve or PRV in condensate separator stage 2.
2. Leaking compressor seal stage 2 skirt. Listen to hear if there is a whistling sound
from crank house. Seal replacement needed.
3. Leaking Piston seal Ø125 stage 1 and 2. Check by stopping compressor and see
if P1 goes up after checking valves stage 2.
High Pressure stage 3, pressure above 45 bar.
1. If the Pressure indicator on stage 3 condensate separator exceeds the reading
on condenser pressure indicator on top of the unit there is a blockage in the
system (checklist). Check the dehydrator valves and pipes for ice or condensate
