Installing a PSU
1 Ensure that the PSU is switched o.
If replacing both PSUs, the enclosure must be powered o via an orderly shutdown using the management interfaces.
2 Orient the PSU for insertion into the target slot on the enclosure rear panel, as shown in Figure 59. Removing a PSU (1 of 2).
3 Slide the PSU into the slot until the latch clicks home.
4 Connect the AC power cord.
5 Move the PSU power switch to the On position.
6 Wait for the Power OK LED on the newly inserted PSU to illuminate green. See also Figure 25. Power supply unit (PSU).
• If the Power OK LED does not illuminate, verify that the PSU is properly inserted and seated in the slot.
• If properly seated, the module may be defective. Check the ME Storage Manager and the event logs for more information.
• Using the management interfaces (the ME Storage Manager or CLI), determine if the health of the new PSU is OK. Verify that the
Power OK LED is green, and that the Ops panel states show no amber module faults.
7 If replacing both PSUs, repeat steps 1 through 6.
Replacing a fan cooling module (FCM)
Illustrations in the fan cooling module replacement procedures show rear panel views of the enclosure, and FCMs are properly aligned for
insertion into the FCM slots.
See CAUTION bullets regarding electrostatic discharge and anti-static protection.
Removing an FCM
CAUTION
: Removing an FCM signicantly disrupts the enclosure’s airow. Do not remove the FCM until you have received the
replacement module. It is important that all slots are lled when the enclosure is in operation.
NOTE: You can change all fan cooling modules as long as they are removed and inserted one at a time. We recommend that you
shut down the unit before removing two or more fans.
1 Identify the fan cooling (FCM) module to be removed. If the FCM module has failed, the Fan Fault LED will illuminate amber. See
Figure 26. Fan cooling module (FCM).
2 See Figure 61. Removing an FCM (1 of 2) when performing this step:
a Push the release latch down and hold it in place (detail No.1).
b With your other hand, grasp the handle and pull the FCM outward (detail No.2). Supporting the FCM with both hands, remove it
from the enclosure.
