Removing the heatsink
1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
2. Remove the:
a. battery
b. hard drive
c. optical drive
d. base cover
e. docking board
f. GPU board
g. SIM module
3. To remove the heatsink:
a. Loosen the screws that secure the heatsink to the system board [1, 2, 3, 4].
NOTE: Loosen the screws in the order of the callout numbers [1, 2, 3, 4]. These screws are
retention screws and cannot be fully removed.
b. Lift and remove the heatsink from the computer.
Installing the heatsink
1. Align the heatsink with the system board.
2. Tighten the screws to secure the heatsink to the system board.
NOTE: Secure the screws in the order of the callout numbers [1, 2, 3, 4].
3. Install the:
a. SIM module
b. GPU board
