Removing a Floppy Drive or Media Card Reader (Tower Computer)
1. Follow the procedures in Before You Begin.
2. Remove the computer cover (see Removing the Computer Cover).
3. Remove the front panel. See Removing the Front Panel.
4. If you are removing a floppy drive:
a. Disconnect the power cable from the back of the floppy drive.
b. Disconnect the data cable from the back of the floppy drive.
5. If you are removing a Media Card Reader, disconnect the data cable from the back of the Media Card Reader.
6. Disconnect the other end of the data cable from the system board connector labeled "FLOPPY" (for a floppy drive) or "FLEXBAY" (for a Media Card
Reader). To locate system board connectors, see System Board Components.
7. Slide the sliding-plate lever to the right to release the shoulder screw and slide the drive or Media Card Reader out of the 3.5-inch drive bay.
CAUTION: To guard against electrical shock, always unplug your computer from the electrical outlet before opening the cover.
NOTICE: To prevent static damage to components inside your computer, discharge static electricity from your body before you touch any of your
computer's electronic components. You can do so by touching an unpainted metal surface on the computer.
