l one PCI Express x8, x4, or x1 card in a x8 slot (wired as x4)
l one PCI Express x1 card in a x1 slot
If you are installing or replacing a PCI Express card, follow the procedures in the next section. If you are removing, but not replacing a card, see Removing a
PCI Express Card.
If you are replacing a card, remove the current driver for the card.
Installing a PCI Express Card
1. Follow the procedures in Before You Begin.
2. Remove the computer cover (see Removing the Computer Cover).
3. Gently push the release tab on the card retention door from the inside to pivot the door open. Because the door is captive, it will remain in the open
position.
NOTICE: To connect a network cable, first plug the cable into the network adapter and then plug the cable into the computer.
NOTE: Check the documentation for cards to ensure that you can accommodate them in your configuration. Some cards that require more physical space
and power (such as PCI Express graphics cards) may restrict the use of other cards.
