Blasting incidents may occur due to the blast area not cleared of all personnel prior to blasting activities taking
place. To eliminate these types of incidents, some mines are implementing human and equipment tracking to
ensure that the blasting areas are completely cleared prior to blasting.
The intended use of the 3rd Party Blast Authorisation system is to ensure that all people and/or equipment are
out of the danger area before the blast commences. The 3rd Party Blast Authorisation is a GPS human /
equipment tracking system as used on certain open cast mines.
The function of the 3
rd
Party Blast Authorisation will allow a third-party device to authorise the Commander to
start the blasting process by using NFC communication embedded in the Commander.
When the 3rd Party Blast Authorisation (HENC) Integration is activated, both the Bench and Base Commanders
will indicate by displaying an “I” for Integration Active as depicted below.
The Prepare for Blast function will allow the user to select either preparing the system for a Local Blast or a
Remote Blast as detailed below.
1. Main Menu
• Press SoftKey to select Prepare for Blast.
2. Last det not set Warning screen
User will be enforced to select last dets on all channels. A warning will be displayed from
where the user may:
• Press to automatically select last det, which is the last det on the list for each
channel,
• Press to display the list of detonators from where the last dets may be
selected manually,

Party integration can be enabled or disabled using the challenge response system.
