ADVANCED MAINTENANCE 6.3 BALL DETENT ASSEMBLIES
IF THE BALL DETENT OR ITS SPRING are worn and need replacing, this is a relatively simple task. Remove
the ball detent assemblies from the Luxe
®
and lift the detent pin out of its slot with a pick or fine needle
nosed pliers [FIG. 1] Take care to keep pressure on the detent while doing so, as it is under spring pressure
and may pop free once released. After cleaning and inspection the detent may be reinstalled by placing it
over its spring and securing it with the pin.
If the retention latches must be removed, carefully lift off their springs with an o-ring pick. After cleaning,
reinstall the latch and stretch its spring over the spring hook on one one side first, then the other [FIG. 2]
THE BALL DETENTS ARE MADE OF SELF-LUBRICATING MATERIAL. DO NOT USE GREASE,OIL OR OTHER LUBRICANTS
ON THEM.
WARNING - Do not disassemble parts 9 and 11 unless necessary to fix a leak
