MACHINEPREPARATION
Sawbandrecommendations
1. A high‐speed DoALL Silencer PLUS saw band is
suppliedwiththemachine.Bandlength,widthand
recommended gage depends on machine model
(seemachinespecificationschart).
2. A machine in correct adjustment, good operating
conditionandusingpropercuttingfluidisessential
toefficientsawing.
3. Properbladecareshouldinclude:(a)pushinguncut
stock away from the band and lowering the saw
headif the machineis to remain idlefor alonger
period;(b)usingcorrectbandspeed,feedforceand
cuttingfluids duringoperation; (c)removing scale
fromstockbeforesawing.
Bladeguards
1. Themachinehastwo(2)bladecoveringguardsfor
operatorsafety.Allguardsmustbeinplacebefore
anysawingprocedureisstarted.
Left guard. This guard is attached to the left
sawguide armand extendstowardsthe idler
bandwheel.
Right guard. Thisguard extends betweenthe
rightsawguidearmandthedrivebandwheel.
This isa fixed, integral part ofthe right band
wheeldoor.
DO NOT defeat their purpose by operating
themachinewithouttheseguardsattached.

Sawguideinsertadjustment
1. Oneachsawguidearmloosentheadjustment
screw by turning it counterclockwise. Then: (a)
checkthatthesawbandisupagainsttheback‐up
insert; (b) turn the insert adjustment screw
clockwiseuntiltight,thenbackoff1/4turn.
Sawbandremoval
Always use extreme care when handling saw
bands.Weargloves.
1. TurnthebanddrivemotortoOFFandthenpushthe
hydraulicstartbutton.Then:(a)pushandholdthe
sawheadupbuttonandallowtheheadtorisetoits
maximumheight;(b)turnthebandtensionselector
toOFF(thismovestheidlerbandwheeltotheright).
2. Openbothbandwheeldoorsuntiltheyengageand
stayopen.Then:(a)loosentheclamphandleonthe
band brush; (b) push the band brush down away
fromthebladeteeth.
3. Loosenthesawguideinsertsonbothsawguide
arms by turning each adjustment screw
counterclockwise(donotallowtheinsertstofall
out). Next:(a) loosen the left saw guide arm lock
handle;(b)sidethe leftsawguidearmabout250
mmfromtherightsawguidearm.
4. Placeaglovedhandonthebackofthesawband
portionbetweenthesawguidearms:(a)pushthe
saw band downand out to disengage it from the
saw guide inserts (you will want to grip the saw
bandfirmlyasyoumanipulateit);(b)removethe
sawbandfromaroundthebandwheels,thenfrom
thetopchannel.
5. Maneuverthedrivebandwheelendloopofthesaw
bandoutwardandtotherightwhilemaneuvering
the idler band wheel end loop between the idler
bandwheelandtheleftsawbandguard.Then:(a)
manipulate the top part of the saw band out
betweentherightsawbandarmandtheband
brushdeflectorshield;(b)recoilthesawbandand
storeordisposeofitimmediately.
Sawbandinstallation

1. Carefullyfollowall sawbandremovalprocedures.
Use the flushing hose to clean areas around saw
guidesandinserts,plusbothbandwheels.
2. Slip the saw band under both saw guide arms by
followingthereverseprocedureofstep4inthesaw
removal section. Then: (a) position the saw band
aroundbothbandwheels.
3. Slipthetopportionofthesawbandloopintothe
topchannel.Then:(a)graspthesawbandportion
betweenboth saw guidearms andtwist it so the
teeth are pointing down; (b) slip the twisted saw
bandupbetweenthesawguideinserts.
