18-3. When the Machine Stops Due to Errors
If this unit stops due to error while operating, restart this unit using the following methods.
(1) To resume operations from where the machine stopped, perform the following operations
according to the cause of the error.
If the machine stopped due to no paper on the paper feed tray, replenish paper and press the start
button with “Paper empty” displayed.
If the machine stopped due to mis-feeding, rearrange the paper at the top of the stack on the paper
feeder neatly, and press the start button with “Feed miss” displayed.
If the machine stopped due to double-feeding, remove the paper in the machine, arrange the paper
in the same order as before the paper was fed, place back the paper to the paper feed tray, and
press the start button.
If the machine stopped due to paper jamming, open the door, remove the paper in the machine.
“Continue ?” will be displayed. Remove all of paper (including the jammed paper) fed after the paper
properly received by the downstream processing unit (paper sent to the standby area before stapling
in the downstream processing unit), arrange the paper in the same order as before the paper was
fed, place back the paper to the paper feed tray, and press the start button. When paper jamming
occurs in the downstream processing unit, refer to the instruction manual on the downstream
processing unit.
(2) To resume operations after returning all sheets in the error set to the paper feed tray, perform
the following operations.
Pressing the stop button when an error other than the above paper jamming and “Continue ?” is
displayed (returns to the initial screen) will return the machine to the state before the first sheet of the
set was fed even if some sheets in the set had been already fed. At this time, if there are paper
remaining in the downstream processing unit, the paper-jam error message will be displayed.
Remove all the paper in the machine (including those in the downstream processing unit), arrange the
paper in the same order as before the paper was fed, place back the paper to the paper feed tray, or
remove all paper of the set remaining on the paper feed tray, and then press the start button.
