2 Safety
Before starting any work, read the operating instructions!
In this section we give you important instructions for your safety. We point out how you
can avoid hazards that may affect the life and health of the personnel and cause dam-
age to the device and other equipment. Compliance with these instructions contributes
to problem-free operation.
If you fail to take note of these instructions, the DURAGGmbH may not be made li-
able for damage caused as a result of negligent or intentional disregard of the informa-
tion provided in these instructions!
2.1 General safety instructions
Changes from normal operation indicate functional impairments and should be taken
seriously. Pay attention to the following in this respect:
Formation of smoke or unusual odours,
Unusual noises caused by and during operation of the device,
Overheating in system components,
Unexplained changes in power consumption,
Health hazards or material damage may arise due to improper use or handling. There-
fore, pay attention to the safety instructions in this section when performing any work
on the flame monitor, as well as the activity-related safety instructions in the following
sections.
In principle, the following warnings and safety instructions apply:
The flame monitor device has a type approval. Any intervention or modification to
the device will void the type approval. Repairs must only be performed by the man-
ufacturer or persons that it has authorised to do so. This is the only way of ensur-
ing compliance with the specifications for the type approval.
When preparing and performing work: Follow the statutory regulations valid for the
plant and the corresponding technical rules. Observe national safety and accident
prevention regulations.
Act according to:
the local, device-specific conditions,
the operational dangers
the regulations.
The operating manual is part of the product and must be stored in the direct vicinity
of the flame monitor and be available at all times. Always follow the instructions
given in this manual in order to prevent dangers and damage.
Appropriate protective devices and protective equipment must be available in suffi-
cient quantity and must be used by the personnel according to the respective po-
tential danger.
Only operate the device in perfect condition, according to the performance data
and in compliance with the safety instructions! Damage to explosion-proof devices
may void the explosion protection.
Only operate the devices as a whole and the individual components in their original
designs.
2.2 Fundamental hazards
Follow the safety instructions listed here and the warning notices in the further sec-
tions of this operating manual in order to reduce health hazards and prevent danger-
ous situations.
