5.3 Notes on the product
The compact flame monitor is a safety device consisting of a control unit and an integ-
rated optical flame sensor located in one housing. This integration saves time and
costs for assembly and wiring compared to the setup with separate flame sensor and
control unit.
5.4 Designated use, application areas
Fault-free and safe operation of this device depends on appropriate transport, correct
storage, installation and assembly, as well as careful operation and maintenance by
qualified personnel.
The flame monitor is suitable for the monitoring of combustions with an extremely wide
range of fuels and combustion methods in
● intermittent operation and
● continuous operation.
The special requirements of DIN EN 50156-2:2015 Section 10.5.5 are also complied
with here.
Possible application areas are:
● Large-scale power plants
● Remote heating stations
● Chemical process incinerators
● Thermal exhaust gas incinerators
● Sulphur recovery units (SRUs)
● Rotary kilns
● Refineries etc.
The compact flame monitor is suitable for all
fuels
and combustion methods, and in
particular for:
● Gas
● Oil
● Coal
● Wood
● Low NOx [}115]
● Operation with flue gas recirculation
● Sulphur recovery units (SRUs) etc.
The parameters specified in section 10 Appendix: Technical data [}93], and in partic-
ular the ambient conditions, must be observed and complied with for the designated
use of the compact flame monitor.
Therefore, when the handling regulations and safety-related instructions described for
configuration, installation, designated operation and maintenance are observed, the
device does not normally present any risks of material damage or to human health.
5.5 Selection criteria for D-LX 201/D-LX 721
Certain prerequisites must be verified for the use of the compact flame monitor
D‑LX201, D-LX 721. The suitability of the device can quickly and easily be determ-
