8 Flame monitor settings
This section describes how to work with the flame monitor. It explains the different set-
tings for the various switches, and provides information on the settings that need to be
made prior to commissioning in order to ensure that the system is used in a practical
manner.
In order to make the necessary settings with the required levels of sensitivity, we re-
commend using the evaluation software D-LX 201 InformationCentre. This makes it
possible to read out the current measured data for the system in real time on a PC or
notebook, and to make the impacts of any applied settings immediately identifiable.
If you have any further questions on the evaluation software, please use our Support
& Service. The addresses and telephone numbers of your DURAG GmbH represent-
atives can be found on page --- FEHLENDER LINK ---.
DANGER
Risk due to electrical equipment!
An immediate danger of death exists in case of contact with live parts. Therefore:
Disconnect the flame monitor before removing the plug-in cover or the cover.
When doing so, take into account both the flame monitor's supply voltage and the
supply voltage of the contact circuit.
NOTICE
Damage to electronic components due to electrostatic discharge (ESD)
Electronic components are becoming smaller and smaller and more and more
complex. Their susceptibility to damage from electrostatic discharge is increased
accordingly. Therefore:
To protect the components, measures must be undertaken to prevent electrostatic
discharge during all work performed at the open device (ESD protection).
To prevent static charges building up on the human body, service employees can
for example be equipped with a personal earthing system.
NOTICE
Always disconnect the flame monitor before removing the cover.
If live printed circuit boards come loose from their plug connectors when removing the
cover, or
if removed printed circuit boards are re-connected under live conditions,
this will cause serious damage to the electronic components.
If printed circuit boards have come loose, always make sure that the plug connectors
for the printed circuit boards are not re-connected in the wrong order.
When opening and closing the housing, observe section 7.4 Opening and closing the
housing [}55].
In order to ensure a fail-safe design, the flame monitor has a consistent dual-channel
construction. The two microprocessor systems control all functions and self tests, and
monitor all safety-relevant time sequences. The input and output states are checked
by the two microcontrollers independently from one another and are then compared.
Operation is only continued if the states match.
