6.1.4 Error shutdown
If a fault is detected in the safety-relevant software and hardware components during
the internal self-monitoring of the flame monitoring device, an error shutdown with in-
ternal fault locking must be triggered. The relays for the flame notification and opera-
tional readiness notification are deactivated and the fault LED on the back of the
device lights up as the power LED starts to flash (for the meaning of the LEDs, see
page [}49]).
Pressing the internal reset button (behind the front panel on the flame monitor) ac-
knowledges an error shutdown and enables the flame monitor to be restarted. Press-
ing the external reset button also acknowledges an error shutdown and allows for a re-
start, but the flame monitor will need to be in error shutdown for this to work.
Only perform a reset
● After the cause of the fault has been rectified
● If the system status is identifiable
● If the information necessary for the process being controlled is known.
A reset can also be performed by briefly stopping the supply voltage. When the reset
button is pressed, all LEDs will go out.
Regardless of the device status (Flame ON/OFF signal or fault), the relays will be de-
activated following a mains interruption or after the reset button is pressed, and the
flame monitor program will restart.
