NOTICE
The system may be damaged and contaminated due to the failure of the purge
air!
If the purge air fails, the lens may quickly become contaminated and the flame monitor
may overheat due to a build-up of heat and be destroyed. Therefore:
Make sure that
▶ the purge air supply is operating reliably and smoothly (even when the system is
stopped).
▶ you immediately detect a failure of the purge air.
▶ the flame monitor is protected by a valve or dismantling process in the event of a
purge air failure.
2.3 Qualified personnel
WARNING
Danger of injury due to insufficient qualification!
Incorrect use can result in serious personal injury and material damage. Therefore:
▶ Ensure that work is only ever performed by suitably qualified specialised person-

●
Specialised personnel
are those who because of their specialist training, know-

● An
electrician
is an individual who, because of their specialist training, knowledge
and experience, coupled with knowledge of the applicable regulations, is in a posi-

Knowledge of explosion protection
is required by all persons carrying out work on
the flame monitor in any kind of hazardous area. This requires knowledge of the
detection and prevention of explosion hazards in accordance with the explosion
protection document. Employees must know how to avoid acute risks and where
work can safely be performed on the devices.
The specialist knowledge on explosion protection must comply with the national
regulations at the place of installation of the device (ATEX, FM, CSA, ...). The per-

are regulated in national regulations or laws.
The operating company must ensure that the aforementioned specialised personnel
are given up-to-date instructions on the following:
● Precise information on the operating risks and their prevention.
● Knowledge of system conditions, applicable standards, regulations, directives, op-
erating instructions and accident prevention regulations in the context of the work
assigned to them.
