Appendix A: Definitions
Ventilation Setting
Definitions
Pressure Assisted Controlled (with expiration valve)
Volume Assisted Controlled (with expiration valve)
Inspiratory Time (in sec) during the backup rate ventilation
Sets the type of circuit configuration and interface in use with Valve
(Non Vented) or No Valve (Vented)
Continuous positive airway
pressure maintained during a spontaneous
breath cycle. (with leak)
The threshold mechanism to switch from inspiration to exhalation.
Positive Airway Pressure
- mb)
pressure delivered to the patient during
expiration.
Sets the shape of inspiratory flow delivered during mandatory
controlled volume breaths:
Square or Decelerating.
Positive Airway Pressure
- mb)
Sets the positive airway pres
sure delivered to the patient during
inspiration.
Triggers a manual breath according to the current ventilation mode in
use.
Mouth Piece Volume Ventilation
Mouth Piece Pressure Ventilation
Assisted/ Controlled (with leak)
Sets either Adult or Paediatric patient.
This configures the default values and ranges available for ventilation
settings and determines circuit resistance acceptance criteria applied
to the Calibration.
The average unintentional leak monitoring above the set intentional
Leak Level. It is reported as a flow for Single limb circuits with
intentional leak. The measured Leak is displayed as a monitored
parameter during ventilation.
Expiratory Pressure -
mb)
Sets the positive airway pressure delivered to the patient during
expiration.
Sets the time needed to reach inspiratory pressure during pressure
breaths.
atory pressure support above PEEP delivered during
Pressure Support Ventilation mode (spontaneous breaths).
Sets the maximum pressure support above PEEP allowed to achieve
safe tidal volume in PSV VT mode.
