1.2 Paper Specifications
1.2.1 Supported Paper
Refer to “Identifying Print Media Sources and Specifications” in the Chapter 1.
1.2.2 Unsuitable Papers
The following types of paper should not be used, otherwise decreased print quality, paper misfeeds, or
damage to the printer may occur.
Specially-treated papers, such as carbon-backed, non-carbon, heat-sensitive, pressure-sensitive, or
acid paper
Extremely thick or extremely thin papers
Damp paper
Art paper, coated paper for color printers
Extremely smooth or extremely rough paper, or paper with uneven surface
Perforated paper or paper with punched hole
Folded, curled, wrinkled, or torn paper
Paper of a non-standard shape (not rectangular)
Label that peels off easily
Papers with glue, staples, or paper clips
Inkjet printer paper (Photo Quality Ink Jet Paper, Glossy Paper, Glossy Film, etc.)
Printouts printed by a heat-transfer printer or an inkjet printer
Transparency for other color laser printers or color photocopiers
Printouts printed by another color/monochrome laser printer or a photocopier
Sheets of paper stuck together using glue or the like
Postcards for inkjet printers
Iron-on Transfer Paper (for inkjet printers or laser printers)
Paper that deteriorates or discolors at 175 °C or lower
When using illustrated postcards, paper feed rollers may be soiled with paper dust and these cards
may not be fed properly. In this case, clean the rollers.
