Connecting the CAN bus
CAN bus line
Note
Faulty installation or high transmission rates may cause
data transmission errors as a result of signal reflections
and attenuations.
Transmission errors can be caused by:
 missing or incorrect terminating resistor
 incorrect screened connection
 branches
 large distances
 unsuitable cables.
Use a twisted, screened 4−core cable as a CAN bus line. The
CoDeSys controller communicates with the drive
controllers
via the CAN bus line.
If the Festo CAN bus plug is used, a cable diameter of 5 ... 8
or 7 ... 10 mm is permitted.
Note
If the CPX terminal is fitted onto the moving part of a
machine, the CAN bus line on the moving part must be
provided with strain relief. Also observe the relevant
regulations in EN60204 part 1.
