3.1.2 Operation with lubricated compressed air
Operate your equipment with non−lubricated compressed air
if possible. This will prevent pollution of the environment.
Festo pneumatic valves and actuators have been designed so
that, if used as intended, they will not require additional
lubrication and will still achieve a long service life.
Caution
Operation with lubricated compressed air will cause the
service life lubrication, which is necessary for non−lubri
cated operation, to be washed out".
Please note the following instructions if lubricated com
pressed air must be used.
The compressed air prepared with the compressor must
correspond in quality to non−lubricated compressed air. If
possible, do
not operate all of your equipment with lubricated
compressed air. If possible, always install the lubricators di
rectly in front of the consuming actuator.
Caution
Incorrect additional oil and too much residual oil content in
the compressed air will reduce the service life of the valve
terminal.
Use Festo special oil OFSW−32 or the other oils listed in
the Festo catalogue (as per DIN 51524−HLP32, basic
viscosity 32 CST at 40 °C).
The additional lubrication must not exceed
25 mg/m
3
(ISO 8573−1 class 5).
Make sure that the lubricator setting is correct
(see following section).
You will thereby avoid functional damage to the valves.
