9.12 CUTS AT EXTERNAL ANGLES OF LESS THAN 30° - SPECIFIC RULES
For angled cuts below 20°, the quality of cut is considerably compromised by: cutting speed, blade quality,
position of the vices. It is therefore recommended that the following sequence of operations be performed for
this type of cut:
- Reduce the blade exit speed to the minimum since, at these angles, the blade has to cut a large profile surface
area.
- Make sure the blade is correctly lubricated.
- Use optimum clamping; for profiles that are not flat special jaws should be used.
- Use quality blades that have a very rigid body because during re-entry after cutting any blade heeling will ruin
the piece cut.
09-24
In general, for any cutting angle, it is best to use all the vices available on the machine, especially for cuts at
large external angles below 30° (see Fig. 09-24).
