Replacement routines
4.5 Replacing the HDD backplane
I The following description applies to both variants of HDD backplanes (6x
HDD modules or 8x HDD modules).
Removing the defective HDD backplane
Ê Open the server as described in the section "Opening/closing the server" on
page 23.
Ê Remove all HDD modules (see the Operating Manual).
V CAUTION!
Ensure that all HDD modules are uniquely identified so that you can
reinsert them into their original bays after replacing the HDD
backplane.

Ê Disconnect all cables from the HDD backplane (see circle).
Ê Lift the HDD backplane over the metal bars (see arrows) and then remove it.
Installing the new HDD backplane
Ê Place the new HDD backplane on the metal bars (see arrows in figure 14)
and press it down carefully.
Ê Reconnect the cables to the HDD backplane (see the cabling plans in the
Appendix of the Options Guide).
Ê Reinstall all HDD modules (see the Operating Manual).
