6. Disable DHCP and assign IPv4 address with serviceport command.
#serviceport protocol none
#serviceport ip <ipaddress> <netmask> [<gateway>]
In the same way, when you assign IPv6 address, use the following commands.
#serviceport protocol none
#serviceport ipv6 address <address>/<prefix-length> [eui64]
#serviceport ipv6 gateway <gateway-address>
For enabling DHCP again, enter the following command.
#serviceport protocol dhcp
If you plan to access the management port through telnet protocol, enable the
telnet with the following command, since it is disabled by default.
#ip telnet server enable
On the other hand, SSH protocol is enabled by default. It is not needed to enable
SSH at this point. For future reference, following is a set of commands to enable
SSH access.
#configure
(Config)# crypto key generate dsa
(Config)# crypto key generate rsa
(Config)# exit
#ip ssh server enable
New user account is added with the following command.
#configure
(Config)#username <username> password <password> level <privilege-level>
Finally, if you make your settings persistent, enter the following command and
save the on-memory configuration into the switch storage. This command asks you
confirmation. Press ‘y’, if you really save the configuration.
# copy system:running-config nvram:startup-config
2.3. Accessing Management Port
The management port is the dedicated port for the remote switch management.
Using the IP address assigned to the management port, you can access the switch
remotely. Telnet, SSH, SNMP, or other network management interfaces are
available with the management port.
