ENGINE OIL REPLACEMENT
<4D3 engine vehicles>
1. Before supplying oil, clean around the oil filler
cap so that dirt will not get inside, then remove
the cap.
2. Remove the oil pan drain plug and replace the
oil filter. Then drain the oil.
Note: If the oil is replaced while it is still slightly
warm after the engine has been stopped, it
will drain out quickly. Be careful to avoid
burns.
3. Install the drain plug with a new gasket . The
side indicated on the figure of the gasket must
be faced toward the oil pan .
4. Carefully pour fresh engine oil through the oil
filler.
5. Wait at least 5 minutes, then check with the oil
level gauge.
6. Let the engine idle until oil can seep throughout,
then stop the engine, wait for at least 30 minutes
and check the oil level again. Also, inspect to
see if there is any oil leakage.
7. Confirm that the drain plug, oil filler cap and oil
level gauge have all been properly reinstalled
after oil replacement.
CAUTION
Be careful not to put in too much engine oil.
WARNING
Oil can be very hot after the engine has
been run. When draining oil, be careful to
avoid getting burnt.
Be careful not to spill engine oil when
replenishing it. If oil gets on the exhaust
manifold or other components, the heat
could cause a fire. If you should spill oil,
wipe it off thoroughly.
