When replacing the fuel filter, open it through the
inspection port .
1. Clean the filter and the surrounding area to pre-
vent dirt from entering the new element.
2. Place a can under the fuel filter to catch fuel.
3. Undo the connector then remove the sensor
from the element assembly .
4. Turn the element assembly in the direction of the
arrow to remove it. If it is hard to turn, use a fil-
ter wrench (available from your nearest MIT-
SUBISHI FUSO distributor or dealer).
5. Check the surface of the filter head that will
make contact with the new element for dirt and
contamination. If necessary, clean it.
6. Replace the element assembly and O-ring
with new ones.
Use the parts included in the MITSUBISHI genu-
ine element kit for replacement.
7. Install the element assembly as follows:
Apply a thin coat of engine oil to the gasket on
the assembly's mounting end. Turn the assem-
bly in the direction of the arrow until the gasket
touches the sealing surface of the filter head.
From this point, tighten the element assembly by
another 3/4 of a turn.
There are four evenly spaced marks around
the periphery of the element assembly. Use
these marks as a guide when tightening the ele-
ment assembly.
8. Install the warning lamp switch on the element
assembly.
9. Reconnect the connector.
10.Bleed the fuel system.
11. Start the engine to test for fuel leakage.
