5.1 Start the system and log on to control software
I
ntroduction
ÄKTA ready XL is normally left switched on between runs. Switch off the system only
during monthly maintenance and repair, or when not in operation for a longer period
of time (more than a few days).
Start ÄKTA ready XL and the
control software
This is an example instruction relevant for the UNICORN control software.
For other control software, refer to the product documentation for an equivalent in-
struction.
Step Action
1 Switch on power to ÄKTA ready XL by turning the P
ower switch to the ON
position.
2 Press the Reset button when it is flashing.
3 Log on to Windows.
4 Start UNICORN by double-clicking on the UNICORN icon on the Windows
desktop.
5 When the L
ogon dialog box appears, select a user from the Users list and
enter the password.
If you log on for the very first time, select the user default and enter the
password default .
6 Click O
K.
7 In the System Control module, on the System menu, click Connect to
Systems.
8 In the dialog shown, select the appropriate system name and click OK. The
system name is specified during installation configuration.
