2.2.2 DICOM Association Time Outs
Problem: DICOM Connectivity Intermittent issue. Before concluding that the time out values are too
small, please confirm that the Network/ System configuration is correct on either end. Time-out
values should be increased only if the Network traffic is too slow for an association to be established
in the allotted time.
Solution: Increase TIMEOUTS for Associations by changing parameters in the mergecom.pro file.
To modify these parameters, do the following:
1.) Press the following key simultaneously: <Ctrl><Alt><F2>
2.) Login as: xruser <enter>
3.) Enter the Password: 4$xray <enter>
4.) Change to the following directory by typing the following:
cd /magichome/cots/terra/resources/NETWORK/merge <enter>
5.) Type the following at the command prompt: vi mergecom.pro <enter>
6.) for instructions on how to use the VI editor.
Note: If increasing the time-out values does not resolve the issue, contact the OLC (OnLine Center).
7.) Increase the time-out values (seconds) as follows:
Parameter Default Alternate
ARTIM_TIMEOUT 30 60
ASSOC_REPLY_TIMEOUT 15 30
RELEASE_TIMEOUT 15 30
WRITE_TIMEOUT 15 30
CONNECT_TIMEOUT 5 10
INACTIVITY_TIMEOUT 15 30
8.) Reset the system.
