5. Install the air cleaner element.
Blow away the remaining dust by
forcing compressed air using an air
nozzle (6) from the housing side (7) of
the air cleaner.
Replace the air cleaner element if it is
excessively dirty, torn or damaged.
6. Install the removed parts in the reverse
order of removal.

Replace it earlier if it becomes very
dirty, damaged on surface or on the
sealing area.
CAUTION
5. Soak the air filter in gear oil (SAE-90)
until saturated, then squeeze out the
excess oil.
3. Remove the air filter (3).
4. Wa s h t h e a i r f i l t e r i n c l e a n ,
nonflammable or high flash point
solvent and let it dry thoroughly.

SYSTEM
Refer to the safety precautions (page 47).
Air filter cleaning
The air filter should be serviced at regular
intervals (pages 48 to 50). Service more
frequently when riding in unusually wet or
dusty areas.
1. Remove the right side body cover (page 30).
2. Remove the air filter housing cover
(1) by removing the screw (2).
Never wash the air cleaner element.
Only blow air in the air cleaner
el e men t f or cl e ani n g du s t , as
explained. Replace air cleaner element
once in every 12000 kms.
Never use gasoline or low flash point
solvents for cleaning the air filter. A fire or
explosion could result.
6. Install the removed parts in the reverse
order of removal.
