a. The System Dynamic Range is calculated as the difference between the receiver noise floor
and the minimum of either the source maximum output (maximum power setting minus out-
put power level accuracy) or the receiver maximum input. System Dynamic Range applies to
transmission measurements only, since reflection measurements are limited by directivity.
The System Dynamic Range for HP 8714 ET/ES 75 W analyzers is not a specification for fre-
quencies >2 GHz; it is a characteristic. For the HP 8712ES/8714ES, external broadband detec-
tors will provide more dynamic range than the internal broadband detectors.
b. Option 1E1 adds a 60 dB step attenuator to the HP 8712ET/8714ET.
