WARNING! To reduce risk of personal injury from hot surfaces, allow the internal system
components to cool before touching.
1. Prepare the computer for disassembly (Preparation for Disassembly on page 75).
2. Remove the computer access panel (
Computer Access Panel on page 123).
3. Remove the front fan (
Front Fan Assembly on page 147).
4. Loosen the four silver captive Torx T15 screws that secure the heat sink to the system board.
CAUTION: Remove heat sink retaining screws in diagonally opposite pairs (as in an X) to even
the downward forces on the processor. The pins on the socket are very fragile and any damage
to them may require replacing the system board.
