Some processor carriers have a thermal interface material (TIM) breaker lever; some do not. For information about
removing a processor without a TIM breaker lever, see the server maintenance and service guide.
Remove the processor from the heatsink:
a. Open the TIM breaker lever (callout 1).
This action breaks the adhesion between the processor and the heatsink.
b. Hold the processor on its edges, and then remove it from the carrier (callout 2).
c. Starting from the pin 1 corner and moving in an opposite manner, disengage the processor carrier release tabs from the heatsink
(callouts 1–4).
